Prodisc was founded in 1990 and has 30+ years’ experience manufacturing Optical Discs. That ensures that the Prodisc brand and Media Identification Code (MID) will work across a wide range of Optical Disc Drives (ODD), recorders, and players, from legacy systems to the most current models. Prodisc equals top quality, reliability and longevity.
Prodisc endeavors to provide professional and reliable recordable optical disc products to its customers. Established in 1990, Prodisc first began mass production of CD-R in 1997, quickly becoming one of the most trusted and popular brands of recordable CD. In 2002, Prodisc added recordable DVD to its portfolio, again quickly becoming a staple for the recordable CD and DVD markets.
Prodisc was able to quickly rise in the ranks of optical disc media manufacturers by specifically focusing on product development, quality enhancements, and cost control. Combining these efforts allowed us to develop a product that resonated with the consumer base at a more attractive price point. Prodisc was able to grow significantly by establishing sales channels around the world creating greater economies of scale, so that we could maintain high quality while maintaining a highly competitive lowered price point.
"Excellence and innovation" are the core philosophy of Prodisc's quality policy, which demands perfect quality and continuous innovation. Optical storage media are high-precision technological products. Therefore, it is essential that all quality inspections be performed to the very strictest of standards. Prodisc firmly believes that the superior quality of its products is its most fundamental commitment to its customers. That’s why we follow a stringent manufacturing process along with extensive testing procedure, such as:
Often, when writer drives are not in sync or they are becoming worn with age and use, they will frequently burn and stop, burn and stop, and so on. This process creates deep colored lines on the burning side of the discs, which we refer to as “Donut Rings”. These rings look like dark concentric circles on the burning side that create irregular patterns and create frequent bad burns. When this happens, it costs money and time.
Prodisc media uses exclusive dyes, along with enhanced stampers, and specialized manufacturing processes that allow all true Prodisc optical discs to help prevent nearly all cases of “Donut Rings” during the burning process. This ensures that your will have more successfully burned discs and save money and time.
Make sure you are receiving authentic Prodisc media. The best way to identify if your discs are authentic Prodisc media to view the bottom of the disc and look for the “PRODISC” name embedded just above the inner hub. If your media doesn’t have the visible “PRODISC” marking on the recording side of the disc, then your discs was not manufactured by Prodisc and cannot be assured the same top quality and reliability Prodisc provides.
Because of Prodisc’s longevity in the market and functionality with both legacy and current ODD’s, Prodisc has the broadest compatibility on the market. Prodisc media is compatible with all the top brand optical disc recorders and players, including the following:
